Goals:
• Students will become informed decision makers, able to understand the effects of their choices on themselves and others
• Students will be able to access information and analyze it for accuracy, bias, and relevance.
• Students will develop an understanding of their personal responsibility for attaining and maintaining their overall health and financial well being, and for pursuing and achieving their education and career goals.
• Students will develop the attitudes, skills, and knowledge that enable them to plan for their successful transition from secondary school into their adult lives.
Classroom Expectations:
• Respect: respect for oneself, classmates, the teacher and the learning environment. This means that each student has the right to express his/her own views but also to listen quietly and respectfully while someone else is speaking.
• Music: must not be used during instructional time. During quiet work music players may be used, but this should be considered a privilege and can be taken away if the privilege is abused. You may not share headphones with another student.
• Cell phones: no cell phones in class. If I see them, they may be taken away and given back at the end of class. If your cell phone is your music, use it for that and only that.
• Seating: class will be assigned a seating plan and all students are expected to sit in their designated seats during every class, unless I give you permission to move for partner work.
• Food/drink: No food and drink- except water- as we are in a computer lab.
• Washroom: Please go to the washroom before or after class. Please bring all supplies, drinks, etc. to class with you. If you need to leave the classroom, please write your name and reason on the whiteboard.
• Absences: It is the student’s responsibility to contact me regarding missed work and tests. You must have a note from home documenting your absence or you will receive a zero on all missed work. Please ask a friend in the class to collect work for you.
• Lates: Late policy to be established by students and teacher during first days of class. Please wait outside the door until I call you in and enter the class quietly.
• TOC- On the rare occasion that there is a TOC in this class, it is expected that your behavior is excellent and that you are helpful and respectful to the TOC. Any problems will be dealt with upon my return.
